Tyrolean

A Tyrolean dovetail is the flat variant of the dovetail, with one angled plane per side.

When to use it

Use it for log building corners when a full dovetail is more than you need. It clamps along the length and over the height, and costs less timber and machining time.

Default: what Add fills in on a 3000 mm part of 120 x 120 mm.

Add a Tyrolean dovetail

1. Select the part in the Parts list.
2. Under Extra processings, click Add.
3. Type tyrolean in the search field and pick Tyrolean.
4. Set Face, End and Position X.
5. Set Length, Taper and Tail height.
6. Check that the part shows a green check. If not, open the Issues tab.

Caution

Rotated versions and the Frosch and Klingschrot variants are not drawn. They are not converted on import and stay in the file unchanged.

BVN (Hundegger)	Partly supported	Experimental, included with a warning unless you leave it out. Operation 1603 is experimental and included with a warning, with the size of the crossing member taken from Fitting or entered on the joint.
BVX2 (Hundegger)	Not written	Refused: no BVX element for this joint is known.
BTL 10.6	Supported	136 Tyrolean dovetail with either end group and the specified laps.
Machine	Specialised machine	Always: it needs a special dovetail cutter, such as a Hundegger K2 or ROBOT-Drive has. Which machine can cut it.
