Processing index
A processing is machining on a part: a hole, a notch, a joint or a mark. Each card below shows the processing as the Add a processing dialog draws it. Pick one to see its fields, how to add it and which machine files support it.
Five of them go straight into the end of a part: the End-grain bore, the End-grain mortise, the End-grain recess, the End-grain slit and the End-grain contour.

Pockets and slots
- Additional machiningRoof, stair, end-face and decorative machining from the BTL 10.6 specification.
- Oriented housingA pocket with an inclined floor and independently tilted walls.
- Free contourYour own outline of lines and arcs, milled out to a depth.
- Saw incisionA flat saw cut or kerf at any angle, limited in length and depth: sharp inside corners, V-notches and slits for steel plates.
- Rebate or grooveA rebate along an arris or a groove in a face, the whole length or part of it: for panels, glass, cladding and tongue and groove.
- Receiving step notchPlain receiving notch without an integral mortise
- Dovetail socketLong-face socket with an explicit cutter flank angle
- NotchNotch or rebate over part of the length
- MortiseRectangular housing for a tenon
- SlotStraight slot, along the part or across the face
- BirdsmouthBirdsmouth for a rafter or purlin, over the full width
- Convex cutTimber taken away inside a set of planes running in any direction: a floor with walls leaning any way, or a lobe against a shoulder, where a pocket cannot follow.
- End-grain mortiseRectangular hole in an end, for a tenon or a hidden connector
- End-grain recessFlat recess in an end, for a let-in base plate
- End-grain slitNarrow slit straight into an end, for a steel plate: through the section or hidden
- End-grain contourFree shape straight into an end, milled out to a depth
End shaping
- Step joint endSeparating strut end without an integral tenon
- Dovetail tailDovetail tail on an end, which slides into a dovetail socket
- Conic chamferTurn one end of the part into a cone
- TenonTenon on an end face: the beam length includes the tenon
- Profiled endShape a part end to a curve, as a rafter tail
