Import a machine file

The Import a file page with a drop zone and the feature cards

Import file reads a machine file from this app, Cadwork, hsbcad or Weto and turns it into a project.

Import a file

Section titled “Import a file”
  1. On Projects, click Import file.
  2. Drop the file on the page, or click Choose file.
  3. Check the list under Parts read: parts, pieces, profiles and issues.
  4. Edit the project name, client and location if needed.
  5. Click Create project.

What it reads

File Notes
BTLx (.btlx, .btlz) BTLx 1.0 up to 2.3.1. A .btlz file can be up to 8 MB.
BVN (.bvn) Hundegger fixed-column files.
BVX (.bvx) BVX1 and BVX2.
Project or backup (.json) Opens as a new local project with Open project copy. Your other projects stay as they are.

The app looks at the file contents, so a renamed file still imports. Machine files can be up to 32 MB, JSON files up to 8 MB.

To add parts to a project you already have, use Import into project on the Export page.

  • Export files: Export a PDF cutting list, CSV, technical drawings, a project backup and BTLx, BVN or BVX machine files. See what blocks an export.
  • Projects dashboard: The Projects dashboard lists every cutting list on this device. Create, open, duplicate and delete projects, or start an import or scan.
  • Parts editor: Edit parts in the Parts view: profile, length, end shapes and extra processings, with 2D and 3D drawings and a live validity check.
  • Import a 3D model: Keep a GLB or glTF model in the library and use it as a reference model to draw over in the fitting workspace.
  • Fitting workspace: Build a 3D assembly of members in Fitting. Every member becomes a part, and the joints where members meet are worked out for you.
  • Scan a mockup: Photograph a physical mockup from every side and get back a 3D model to use as a reference. Scanning is in beta and needs a network.
