Scarf joint
Deze inhoud is nog niet vertaald.
A scarf joint lengthens a beam: both ends get the same angled plane with a square abutment, so they hook into each other.
When to use it
Section titled “When to use it”Use it for purlins and wall plates that must be longer than your timber. The abutment lets the joint take tension and stops the halves sliding. Put the same joint, mirrored, on the other end.
Fields
Section titled “Fields”| Veld | Eenheid | Bereik of opties | Standaard | Wat het verandert |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| End | Start, End | End | ||
| Position X | mm | from 0 | 3000 | The end face the joint sits on. |
| Length | mm | from 1 | 300 | How far the joint runs into the beam. |
| Inclination | ° | 1 to 89 | 33.7 | Inclination of the scarf plane relative to the beam axis. |
| Lip length | mm | from 0 | 175 | Length of the first plane, measured ALONG the slope, not horizontally. |
| Lip depth | mm | from 0 | 17 | Depth of the abutment, square to the scarf plane. |
| Depth opposite side | mm | from 0 | 20 | How deep the joint starts at the root, measured from the opposite side. |
| Drill holes | 0 to 2 | 0 | Number of dowels through the joint (0, 1 or 2). | |
| Hole 1 Ø | mm | from 1 | 20 | Diameter of the first dowel hole. Shown only for some settings of the other fields. |
| Hole 2 Ø | mm | from 1 | 20 | Diameter of the second dowel hole. BVN and BVX drill both holes with one diameter. Shown only for some settings of the other fields. |
| Face | Top, Bottom, Front, Back | Bottom | The side of the part the processing is on. | |
| Splinter-free | Machine default, Off, Tool path | Machine default | Machining that keeps the edges from splintering. Machine default writes what each file normally has for that operation. BVX and BVN carry an explicit choice where the operation has the setting, and the export says so where it does not. BTLx has no such setting. |
Default: what Add fills in on a 3000 mm part of 120 x 120 mm.
Add a scarf joint
Section titled “Add a scarf joint”- Select the part in the Parts list.
- Under Extra processings, click Add.
- Type
scarfin the search field and pick Scarf joint. - Set Face, End and Position X.
- Set Length, Inclination, the lip values and the number of Drill holes.
- Check that the part shows a green check. If not, open the Issues tab.
Machine export
Section titled “Machine export”| Format | Status | Details |
|---|---|---|
| BTLx | Supported | ScarfJoint. |
| BVN (Hundegger) | Partly supported | Experimental, included with a warning unless you leave it out. Operation 1300 cuts the hooked scarf in its own symmetric form, with the slope set by the section; a scarf in that form is experimental and included with a warning, not yet checked on a machine. |
| BVX2 (Hundegger) | Partly supported | Experimental, included with a warning unless you leave it out. ScarfJoint is the same hooked scarf as BVN 1300; a scarf in that form is experimental and included with a warning, not yet checked on a machine. |
| BTL 10.6 | Supported | 071 scarf joint and dowel holes. Known receiver omissions produce a warning. |
BTL status describes what the specification can represent. CAMBIUM imported our earlier BTL test files; confirmation applies to the tested forms and build. See BTL coverage for representation and receiver caveats.
